81. Go to Havasupai

81. Go to Havasupai

Making this trip a reality was a dream come true. My mom discovered Havasupai when I was a little girl, and I have wanted to go ever since. When Kaycia and I met 3 years ago we knew that we had to do it together one day when we both lived in Utah. Not that it's close to Utah. It is just closer to Utah than it is to Georgia. Located on the south rim of the Grand Canyon, a few miles from the Park, it took a full day of driving to get there from Provo.

It was an adventure from its inception. Tears were shed on February 1st at 8:03 when we were allotted our permits. Tears were shed again when we bought all of the gear to hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. We ate In N Out, Nielsen's Frozen Custard, Little Caesar's, Cafe Rio, and all of the possible good road trip food. We sang to Celine Dion, Enya, the MoTab, and every Disney movie ever made. We drove through 3 states. And then we spent 3 days in the closest place to heaven on earth.

Sleeping in the car for an early morning.

MADE IT.

We started our hike down late at 8 AM. It only took us a couple of hours to get to the campground, and surprisingly, the 10 mile hike down wasn't so bad at all. The red and brown walls made it so hard to believe that there was really an oasis hidden at the bottom. There was nothing like that first glimpse of blue green water.

As soon as we got there, we picked out our perfect island camping spot, between two serene little sections of the creek. We hung our hammock over the water, and it was perfect. Perfect perfect perfect.

The next 2 days were followed up with rope swings, waterfalls, lots of wonderful new friends, and subpar camping food.

Watch the video ^^^^ (at the almost-tippy-top) in case you are questioning how much I really love this place.
